Who's behind Days on Site

An independent project from the makers of the Aussie Days 88/179-day calculator.

How we make our guides

Every guide and lesson goes through the same steps before it's published.

  1. Start from a real question. Each guide answers something people actually ask about FIFO work, in Australia and overseas. We don't publish pages just to fill a topic.
  2. First-hand experience. Day-to-day detail, such as a typical shift, what to pack and how camp works, comes from people who have worked FIFO on Australian mine sites, shutdowns and roster positions.
  3. Official sources for anything that could be wrong. Laws, visa rules, airline limits and statistics link to the regulator, government department or company that sets them. Where we couldn't confirm something, we say so or leave it out.
  4. Labelled, so you know how much to rely on it. Every rule is marked Law, Common or Varies. Mine safety law is different in each state, and many rules are set by the site, so your induction always comes first.
  5. Fact-checked line by line. Each draft gets a numbered fact-check list, and someone who has worked FIFO checks every claim before it goes live.
  6. Dated and kept current. Every page shows when it was published and last updated. We recheck rules when they change.

Lessons are also reviewed by working FIFO workers from different roles before the course opens.

Found a mistake? Email hello@daysonsite.com and we'll fix it and update the date.

What we don't do

  • We don't list jobs, find people work or take fees to get you a job.
  • We don't give personal visa or migration advice. For that, see a registered migration agent.
  • We don't publish reviews or testimonials we can't back up, and we don't take payment to mention employers.

The certificate

When you pass the final quiz you get a certificate of completion with a unique ID and a QR code. Employers can scan it to see that the certificate is genuine and what the course covers. You choose whether that page is public, and can switch it off.

What it isn't: it's not nationally recognised training, a licence, a site induction or a qualification, and it doesn't replace any ticket or induction a site requires.
